Comprehensive Eye Exams
A comprehensive eye exam is equivalent to a physical for your eyes. It involves a thorough evaluation of the entire eye. Eye exams not only check for your eyeglass and/or contact lens prescription, it also involves checking the health of the eye. Lake Ridge Eye Care uses special diagnostic instruments to assess the external and internal health of the eye. In addition, we check your eye pressures, eye muscles, and peripheral vision during the exam.
Pediatric Eye Care
Some parents believe that children do not need to see an optometrist for an eye exam unless they notice any vision problems because pediatricians and/or school nurses usually provide adequate vision screenings. Although this may be true in rare cases, most screenings simply test to see if a child can see 20/40 or better. Children need comprehensive eye care as well as adults. A complete pediatric eye health exam will provide information on the strength and motility of the child's eye muscles, visual capabilities, as well as external and internal ocular health. These are all essential in allowing children to learn and strive in life and school.
Laser Surgery Consultation
With all the new advances in LASIK and the hype you hear in its advertising, it is difficult to know the true details of the procedure and the risks/benefits. Dr. Kha can discuss LASIK at length with you as well as answer any questions or concerns you may have. We work with the best LASIK surgeons in town and provide both pre- and post-op care for our patients.
Computer Vision
The number of people who work with computers is progressively increasing. With increased time spent in front of a computer, more and more patients are experiencing eye symptoms such as eye fatigue, focusing difficulty, redness, and/or dryness. Lake Ridge Eye Care can provide helpful options to relieve these symptoms for our patients.
Retinal Imaging with Optomap
Our doctors recommend that all patients have a through examination of their retina each year to fully assess the health and wellness of the eye. The optomap produces a unique image with a high-resolution 200° look at the retina and the back of your eye. Unlike traditional dilation drops the optomap has no side effects, is safe for patients who are pregnant, and gives a permanent record of your eye health. A series of images will be taken of each eye and will be reviewed by the doctor during your examination. In some rare cases, dilation drops may still be needed. An additional fee of $35 will apply as Optomap is typically not covered by most insurance plans. Ask the staff about optomap when you schedule your appointment.
Surgery Co-management
We can provide the before and after care for patients who have undergone surgeries such as cataracts and LASIK. We can also have arrangements established with other specialized eye care doctors to manage such conditions as retinal tears/holes, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye changes.
Contact Lenses
There is an endless variety of contact lenses available today. With the recent technological advances made in the contact lens industry, options for patients and doctors have broadened dramatically. For instance, newer, healthier contact lenses are becoming more readily available and practical. In addition, choices like colored vs. clear lenses, hard vs. soft lenses, daily wear vs. extended wear and bifocal lenses are available. However, not all contact lens choices are ideal for each individual patient. Dr. Kha will discuss these options with you and decide which option is best for your particular needs.
